Marc Martel, Freddie Mercury’s Clone
This is the latest viral video to hit the Net. The surviving members of the legendary rock band Queen, are holding a open audition for the ultimate fan tribute band. Members of Queen encouraged their fans to upload audition videos of their renditions of popular Queen songs to their YouTube channel. Well the competition was over before it even began. One of the first initial entries was submitted by Marc Martel. A singer of relative obscurity, from the band Downhere. Aside from a few YouTube videos Downhere didn’t have much of existence. I imagine that may change after Marc recieved 3.5 Million views on youtube in just 5 days. His audition is an eerily similar rendition of Somebody to Love by Queen. When I say eerily similar I mean identical. Marc’s voice is pitch perfect as an impersonation of the Freddie Mercury. I realize thats quite a statement but listen for yourself. Just to prove he isn’t lip syncing Marc adds the line “this is the guitar solo” over the guitar solo in the song. Marc clearly has the world’s attention and is a hands-down surefire winner for the contest. The masses are touting him as Freddie Mercury Reincarnated.
Effortless. He’s a natural. He sings like he has been a pro all is life. I’m always amazed how much talent there is out there. That is one reason I enjoy youtube and sites like this. One of my favorite videos on youtube is:

This guy can sing. I wish I had some talent. Anyways, I wonder what he is doing now. Did he make it to the big time?
Oh my…this guy has talent. I can’t imagine how good he would sound if he had a live band behind him.
Dang, he can sing. He even looks a little like The Great Freddie Mercury. Very easy on the eyes. He needs to loeosn up his body language a whole lot, but he sure has the body to do it with!
